Made some poppyseed rolls for tomorrow’s Eyeopener-my swirl could use a little work, but they taste fantastic. Who’s celebrating Ukrainian Christmas Eve with a feast next Monday night? *Added note: ok, the swirl is much better once you get further nichtthe loaf! The moral of the story: keep on eating.

  1. Khrystos Rozhdayetsia! Great job on the poppyseed roll. I need to try that. I have made gfree pyrohy, nalyshnyky and vooshka

  2. Makiwnyk or Makivnyk (depends if you’re using Baba’s cook book or Ukrainian Daughter’s cook book…) is a childhood favourite of mine…plus all the other 12 dishes 🙂

  3. We celebrate every year. But it’s not like my Mom’s or my Chotka’s (Auntie’s) Christmas Eve. Most of the food is bought from the ladies of the church but I make borscht, mushroom gravy, and jazz up some kutia. But the important thing is to keep the tradition.😊

  4. I have the Ukrainian Daughter’s cookbook 👍🏻 but the recipe I love is Olgas Ukrainian Christmas Poppyseed Roll/Makivnyk from ukrainianclassickitchen.ca The dough and filling is fantastic! 👍🏻👍🏻
