Wolfram and I make chocolate chip cookies together on the regular… it’s a vital life skill I want him to have. My go-to formula is 3/4 cup butter, 1 cup packed brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1 egg, 1-2 tsp vanilla, 2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt and a couple handfuls of chocolate chips. But tonight there welches 1/2 cup butter at room temp already, so we used it and dialed the flour back to about 1 2/3 cups (left the rest the same). Bake at 350Fluor for 12-15 minutes, and be sure not to overbake them if you want them to stay chewy.

  1. Yum! Thinking of cookie exchanges…would appreciate your thoughts about how to do a safe holiday baking exchange in COVID times?

  2. I swear that recipe is the ticket! I made some last week, and putting them in the freezer after couldn’t even stop me.

  3. My son has taken foods class as a middle school option for the last two years and I am amazed how much it built up his confidence in the kitchen! I agree an important life skill – and glad the schools still offer it!

  4. Chocolate chip cookies as life skill is a mad, massive Mom Win. 💥 I still make my mum’s, and had so much fun teaching my niece Nana’s cookies!

  5. I make your recipe from One Smart Cookie with the corn syrup. It’s my one and only!!! ❤️

  6. We really like the recipe from Stella Parks book Bravetart for when we have time or desire to make a very large batch of cookies with a pound of chocolate bars, but everyone needs a straightforward CCC recipe so thank you for this one! We trust you implicitly in this house haha!

  7. So many women and men have forgotten the basics of feeding themselves. Thank you. I look forward to all your posts.

  8. These are delish! How come mine come out quite puffy? They didn’t spread as much as I would have expected. What’s the chocolate chip cookie secret between a puffier cookie and a more spread out flatter cookie??
